And Oceans: Cypher
27/07/04 || Lord K Philipson
And Oceans? What and oceans? Coyotes and oceans? Global Domination and oceans? Lemme start this off with saying that their website sucks enormously, that itself is a reason to check it out. And Oceans? Fuck, I detest that name. It´s like the demo-title by a band I can´t remember (translated from swedish), “Where swans fly”. What the FUCK happens there?! What exfuckenactly happens where the swans fly?!? Die.
Oh… and don´t even get me started on the length of the songtitles…. If they pronounce all of that in the rehearsalroom, they should win some kind of prize. The rehearsals must be really short as telling what song´s up next will take forever.
Luckily for, no.. I refuse to type their name again in this review, this band has made a real good album that kinda makes up for it, with all kinds of electronic influences without losing the mainthing, the metal. It has groove, I like it. It has guitars, I like it. It has keyboards, I like it. basically, I like it, even though they are from Finland.
If you imagine that a guy called In Flames goes to a pub to have a few beers. Done that yet? Ok, at the pub he meets this guy called Pain and they get along real well. They sit there having beers chatting and all that when they realize they are both very gay. I mean very, very gay. What happens is, they go home and fuck. What I´m trying to say is that if these 2 could have a baby, it´d be called this bands name (see, I´m not forgetting not to mention that name again, I rule). Only, they would have to fuck a few more people along the way, such as some blackmetal-dudes, someone in Meshuggah, a few technopeople and probably Ja Rule just for good measure.
It´s a very diverse album as can be read in the love-story above, and metalbands that throw in jungle-beats on top of heavy riffs and in breaks always gets good points in my book. If it´s not Fear Factory ofcourse coz they just plain suck at everything. My favetracks are the opener “Melting the skies”, which holds such a fucken great leadriff I cum in my pants, and “Lost between horizons” which is full-on techno with fucken heavy guitars and a keyboard-lead that makes me wanna kill someone out of joy. I so like this crap to say the least.
The downside of all this though is that the album might at times be a little too much to take in for regular people. Too many different styles piled up which results in the album feeling a little weird. It´s like 2 or 3 different bands recorded the same album. But for most parts, I really like it.
It must be all the techno-shit for sure coz I´m fucken positive it´s not all their goddamn rantings about flowers everywhere. Flowers are not metal. Blood is. I rule.
The fact that they are compared to the masters of music, The Project
Hate, in alot of reviews should give them top-scores but I´m not that
easily fooled. They get 9 out of 10 for the awesome technostuff in “Lost
between horizons” but as a whole…?
Well, here goes fucker.
